Please note: This is not a live course. If you have booked onto one of our courses, please follow the joining instructions that have been emailed to you.

Learning forums are a vital aspect of our courses: it is where you will discuss your ideas and experiences and will develop your thinking. Research has shown that asynchronous discussions facilitate deeper reflection and critical thinking. Having time and distance to formulate answers allows for, in many respects, greater mastery over the course content.

To facilitate collaboration and discussion, your tutor will put you into groups at the start of the course. In your group forums, only you, your colleagues and your tutor can post. Although you cannot post in other groups learning forums, you will be able to read their posts.

During the course, you will have the opportunity to review your colleagues' work and give them feedback. We encourage you to use the ‘two stars and a wish’ approach (write two positive comments and one suggestion on what could be even better). This approach is an example of a formative feedback strategy from the book Embedded Formative Feedback by Dylan Wiliam & Siobhán Leahy.

You will find the learning forums as you navigate through the course content. You will also be able to see an overview of all the learning forums by using the direct link to the 'Learning forums index' on the side panel. The video below shows you how to access and make posts in the learning forums.
