This video is a submission for more than one candidate. In this syllabus the option within Submit for Assessment to tag multiple candidates against one piece of evidence is useful to centres. Two or three candidates may be filmed at the same time performing the same skills to reduce filming length if needed and if appropriate to their skill level. The moderator comments for this video refer to the performance of one candidate only. However, scaling may have been applied to the centre as a whole when taking the performance of all candidates into account.

The candidate is identified in the moderator commentary displayed in the video below: pink 11, lane 4.

This candidate would be placed in the low Level 5 range.

The times and distance are recorded. These are verified by the moderator through the filmed evidence.

Some issues seen with Track and Field Athletics from some centres:

  • The rules regarding the completion of the event or accepted jumps or throws are not applied.
  • Candidates are measuring/timing the event and not recording the correct time or distance. A teacher/adult must measure and time the event as stated in the Coursework Guidelines Booklet.
  • The tape cannot be read. The tape is blurred or only the centimetres are shown in the close-up shot. Both metres and centimetres must be seen. Ideally metres are filmed first and then the centimetres against the board/line.
  • A stopwatch is not shown at the start, during and end of the running event.
  • Running tracks are not used and the distance cannot be verified.
  • The start position on the track is incorrect.
  • Times and distances are incorrectly read and converted to marks on the performance tables.
