Remind learners of the need in descriptive writing for precision, variety and interesting words and imagery. In groups, learners compile lists of unusual vocabulary and appropriate imagery for a specified event or place to describe a blizzard, beach, skiing and feedback to rest of class on their topic.

Use Image reveal and ask learners to focus on each of the revealed squares in turn. Learners give as much description as they can about each square using the senses, before moving on and revealing the next square.
