The candidate studies the work of the photographers Henri Cartier-Bresson and Martin Munkacsi. The candidate identifies a characteristic element of Bresson’s work described as a decisive moment in time. The candidate quotes directly from a named source to substantiate their ideas. As with Dorothea Lange, the candidate recognises the importance of composition in Bresson’s work. The candidate quotes from a different named source to support their ideas. This is rewarded in AO1 and AO3. Some of Bresson’s photographs which the candidate associates with travel are included.
