About this resource
This resource is designed to support you in preparing students for the Speaking test. It aims to:
- help you feel confident in conducting the Speaking test
- show how the teacher/examiner role works and how the test is structured
- give a clear sense of the different levels of candidate performance
The videos included are for demonstration purposes only. The participants kindly volunteered so that we could create practical support for teachers. Each test has been marked and commented on by a Cambridge moderator.
You will see that the moderator’s comments highlight where candidates are gaining marks, as well as where they could improve. Final marks are included to give you a helpful indication of performance levels. Please note that these participants did not receive grades or certificates.
Important note
Centres are required to submit audio recordings (not video) to Cambridge International for moderation.
For full details, please refer to the Cambridge Handbook.
For examination from 2028
Candidates are allowed
to make notes in the 10-minute preparation time. The notes must be handed to
the teacher/examiner before the start of the test and stored securely until
certificates are issued.
