Why had liberalism and nationalism grown in influence by 1848?

For this example we need to introduce a feature where if there are more than 5/6 items, it only shows 5 randomly selected. Otherwise items get hidden off the screen. We can fix that manually right now - by only having 5 items, but will need greater flexibilty for the future.
