A safe learning environment
Of course, children’s safety is the top priority for any early years setting. Everyone in your early years setting, including parents, carers and other visitors, should be equipped to take responsibility for their own and others' safety. Your setting
is responsible for each child in its care, and you should have a whole-setting safety policy. It is your responsibility to understand and conform to your setting’s policy. It should include regional or national regulations, and safeguarding and eSafety guidance.
This section supports your implementation of your setting’s safety policy. It provides practical advice about how to ensure that you plan safe and effective learning activities and opportunities. It includes:
- Supporting risk-taking
- Creating a safe learning environment
- Empowering children to keep themselves safe
